In fact Peoples Group can boast that 20% of its employees have been with the Company for 15 years or more, 28% have been here 10 years or more and almost half of the staff have been with the Company 5 years or more.

Executive

Grant MacKenzie

President & Chief Executive Officer

Grant was appointed Chief Executive Officer effective March 29th, 2016, following the retirement of Mr. Derek Peddlesden. He brings a strong leadership background to Peoples together with a comprehensive understanding of all areas of financial services operations. His innovative and entrepreneurial nature have grown and developed financial institutions including ING Direct and Macquarie Financial during an extensive 30-year career. Although busy in his career, Grant makes it a priority to give back to the community through charitable efforts including Habitat for Humanity, Racing for Kids/Sick Kids Hospital and the Ride to Conquer Cancer. In the past seven years, Grant has lead teams for the Ride that have raised approximately $1M for cancer research. Additionally, Grant is a Director of the Trust Companies Association of Canada.

Samson Lim

Chief Financial Officer & Executive Vice-President

Samson has a Commerce Degree with Honours from the University of British Columbia (Sauder School) and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA).  Prior to joining Peoples Trust in 2009, Samson held various financial leadership positions developing a diverse portfolio of knowledge and experience within the banking, forestry and telecommunications industries. With over 30 years of experience, including being a CFO for a Canadian bank, he is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, where he provides senior management oversight and is responsible for all financial functions of our Company. Samson is also involved with establishing various entrepreneurial businesses, is a Board Director for several private and public companies, and has taught at universities.

Samson is the winner of BIV Magazine and the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC’s 2016 CFO of the Year Award in the Publically Accountable Company Category.

Waheed Hirji

Chief Operations Officer

Waheed joined the Peoples Group as Chief Operations Officer in fall 2016. He has over 20 years’ experience in financial institutions having held senior positions with a B.C. credit union and a major Canadian chartered bank in Toronto. He brings with him extensive experience in strategic development, team leadership, organizational development, finance and operations. Prior to banking he spent several years in the assurance and risk management practice of a national accounting and consulting firm obtaining both CPA – CA and CISA accreditation. When not directly involved in shaping the business, Waheed is actively involved with the community as a director with CVEMS promoting a healthy lifestyle to youth through cycling and working with BCIC New Ventures as a mentor to technology based start up companies.

Bill Moffatt

Chief Credit Officer

Bill brings to Peoples 37 years of experience in providing effective leadership and successful oversight of risk and operations in various financial services and insurance enterprises. Bill has had the opportunity to live and work in many locations throughout Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean since beginning his financial services career in 1979. His diverse background, combined with a demonstrated commitment to employees, prudent risk management focus, and an unwavering focus on the customer makes him a welcome addition to the Peoples Group executive team.

Neil Allen

Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer

Neil is an experienced IT Professional with an honours degree in Computing Science and 25 years of related industry experience. A significant part of his career was spent in leadership roles with the Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE), Burntsand Inc. and now Peoples Group which he joined in 2003. He has managed significant large scale complex information system projects through all phases of development, including overseeing system design and implementation. Neil was educated in the UK and attended the University of Greenwich in London. As Chief Information Officer, he is responsible for Peoples Information Technology strategies, function, and infrastructure.

Darren Kozol

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Darren joined Peoples Trust Company as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in mid-2012. He was subsequently appointed Corporate Secretary for Peoples Card Services in early 2013. Darren is a corporate lawyer with substantial in-house experience advising boards and executive management. He has an extensive legal background encompassing technology, financial services, government relations and compliance. As General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Darren is responsible for providing advice to the Company on a variety of legal issues related to our businesses. He also fills the roles of Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Anti Money Laundering Officer, and Complaints & Privacy Officer.

Ann McDow

Vice President, People & Culture

Ann joined Peoples Group in October 2016 and brings with her over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, most recently with the Financial Services Commission of BC. She was born in Halifax and worked for 15 years in senior leadership roles in Ottawa and Toronto before moving to BC in 2002. Ann has a passion for leadership and for developing people. She believes in making healthy life choices which she practices as an avid cyclist and runner who regularly participates in charity events that support the community.

Finance

Darlene Sum

Assistant Vice President, Finance

Darlene graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. She went on to obtain her Chartered Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor designations with an international audit firm, specializing in IT audit and consulting. Darlene has over 20 years of accounting and financial reporting experience in the utilities, telecommunications and financial services industries. Since joining Peoples Group in 2011 as Manager of Accounting and then Controller with Peoples Card Services, she has taken on more responsibilities moving to her current position with Peoples Trust in 2015. As Assistant Vice President, Finance, Darlene uses her expertise to manage the day to day operations of the department including development of new processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function as the company continues to grow.

Julie Berks

Assistant Vice President, MBS and Mortgage Banking Administration

Julie joined Peoples Trust in August 2007. As Assistant Vice President, MBS and Mortgage Banking Administration she oversees the administration of both the corporate and investor owned portfolios. She has a comprehensive background in real estate and has held management positions in the mortgage finance and mortgage software industries for over thirty years. She has extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of mortgage administration and asset management, including construction financing, participation lending, and CMHC insured financing.

Mortgage Underwriting — BC

Dennis Dineen

Senior Vice President & Regional Manager — B.C.

With a degree in Finance from the University of British Columbia, Dennis commenced his career as a Senior Commercial Loans Officer with a large Canadian trust company. Since that time he has held senior management positions with various national and regional financial institutions focused primarily on commercial and construction financing. As Senior Vice President & Regional Manager, B.C., Dennis is responsible for commercial real estate lending and conventional mortgage banking for Peoples Trust Company on a local and national basis.

Jonathan Wong

Assistant Vice President, Commercial Mortgages — B.C.

A graduate of UBC and the University of Toronto with degrees in Economics and International Relations, Jonathan joined Peoples Trust in 2008 after a 20 year career as a senior commercial lender with a major Canadian Bank. Throughout his career, Jonathan has been involved in all aspects of commercial real estate financing in British Columbia. As Manager, Commercial Mortgages – BC, Jonathan is responsible for commercial real estate lending and the development of new business in the areas of conventional financing for mortgages and construction and CMHC term and CMHC construction lending for the BC Region.

Tom Wollner

Manager, Residential Mortgages — B.C.

Holding both AMP and RI(BC) designations, Tom has been active in residential lending since 1978. He has held underwriting positions with several Canadian trust companies before joining Peoples Trust in 1989. As Manager, Residential Mortgages, Tom’s responsibilities include production and underwriting of equity loans in the B.C. Region.

Dennis Aitken

Senior Vice President & Regional Manager — Prairie

A graduate of the University of British Columbia, majoring in Finance and Urban Land Economics, Dennis has been active in the real estate finance industry for many years. He has held senior real estate financing positions with major Canadian and American financial institutions. His experience includes all components of real estate finance, with a recent focus on conventional and CMHC insured construction and term loans. In his position as Regional Vice President, Dennis concentrates on expanding Peoples Trust’s CMHC insured and conventional loan portfolios in the Prairie Provinces.

Josh Barker

Assistant Vice President, Commercial Mortgages — Prairie

A graduate of Brown University with a degree in Economics, Josh began his finance career 7 years ago with a nationally recognized commercial real estate brokerage firm where he gained valuable experience in all types of commercial real estate financing transactions. Prior to joining Peoples Trust in 2013, he spent 4 years as a senior lender at an Alberta financial institution where he specialized in small and large term, interim, and construction mortgages for all commercial real estate asset classes. Josh is responsible for originating, underwriting, and executing on both CMHC insured and conventional term and construction mortgages.

Mortgage Underwriting — Eastern

Michael Lombard

Senior Vice President & Regional Manager — Eastern Canada

After graduating with a degree in Economics from York University in Toronto in 1987 and subsequently completing his MBA, Michael commenced his career in commercial lending with a major Canadian Bank. He has since held Senior Management positions at various major financial institutions. Mike has spent his entire career focused on the Ontario market, with the last 10 years concentrated on Real Estate finance. His main areas of expertise are conventional and construction finance. As Senior Vice President & Regional Manager, Michael will focus on building our presence in the Ontario market, with a focus on commercial conventional, CMHC insured, and residential mortgages. Michael is very active in his community, coaching various minor sports teams.

Ady Steen

Assistant Vice President, Commercial Mortgages — Eastern Canada

Ady is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Finance. He joined Peoples Trust in 2009 after 5 years experience as a commercial real estate lender with several financial institutions. Ady is responsible for sourcing and underwriting both commercial, conventional and CMHC insured mortgages.

Janet Cubbage

Senior Manager, Deposit Services

Janet has been in various roles within Deposit Services at Peoples Trust for over twenty-five years. As the Senior Manager of this area she is responsible for maintaining the high level of service that our clients have come to expect. Since joining Peoples Trust she has helped build an efficient, personable unit, characterized by experience, dedication, effort and commitment, which takes pride in providing excellence in customer service.

Jacqueline Ogilvie

Assistant Vice President, Mortgage Administration

Jacqueline joined Peoples Trust in March of 2016. She previously held senior leadership roles in Risk Management, and Credit and Operations at Canada’s largest Credit Union. She brings with her thirty years of experience in the BC Credit Union system, a career that started in the branch network and included many exciting opportunities, including the start-up of a Virtual Bank. Jacqueline believes a focus on people leadership and development leads to the achievement of greatness.

Howard Klein

President

Howard is a seasoned executive with over 17 years of payments experience in both regulated and unregulated industries. He has held C-Level positions in various global payments companies and was heavily involved with Mergers & Acquisition activity, bringing his last company from a $150 Million market cap to over $2 Billion. He has developed a deep understanding of the current regulatory landscape both domestically and abroad and leverages his experience to find innovative solutions to complex business problems. As a graduate of Concordia University with a degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Philosophy, his deep understanding of technology allows him to work with Fintech companies to enable cutting edge new products and services.

Shirley Matthew

Vice President

Shirley joined Peoples Card Services in 2014 as Vice President Merchant Acquiring after more than 20 years in the Financial Services Industry, most recently at Visa* Canada. After graduating from Ryerson Polytechnic Institute’s Business Administration program, she held roles in Merchant Services, IT, Human Resources, Corporate Communications and Electronic Banking. In her current position at Peoples, Shirley is responsible for the day to day operation of the Merchant Acquiring Services business and contributes to the strategies and business plans for Peoples Card Services.

Gerry Serratore

Vice President, Sales & Business Development

A University of Waterloo graduate with a degree in Mathematics and Accounting, Gerry has had a career in the credit card business that has spanned over twenty years. Gerry has held several senior acquiring positions with major credit card firms such as Canada Trust, First Data and Mastercard Canada. For the past seven years, Gerry has focused on the credit card issuing business as VP Sales for Peoples Trust’s array of products which include secured and prepaid cards.

Peter Read

President

Peter is an experienced business leader with over 25 years in the prepaid arena. He has an extensive background in technology, product development and strategic management. Through his career, he has held senior officer and board positions in both public and private organizations with a focus on operations and business development, helping to build companies from the ground up. As President of Peoples Card Services, Peter reports to the Board of Directors and is primarily responsible for the Company’s overall performance through the formulation of strategies and business plans to achieve the Company’s long-term objectives.

John Pals

Chief Operating Officer

John is a seasoned executive with over 25 years experience in Financial Services and a solid background in payments in North America, Europe and the Middle East. He has held senior positions in operations, business development, product management and marketing and sales in a broad range of companies from startups to multinational corporations. In cooperation with the Department of Finance, John participated in the Task Force for the Payments System Review and is currently member of Finance Canada Payments Consultative Committee (FinPay). As COO, John is responsible for technical and operational activity on a day-to-day basis as well as input into the formulation of strategies and business plans to achieve the long-range objectives of Peoples Card Services.
